Can we agree that resolutions are a waste of our time and energy? Why do so many of us put this unnecessary pressure on ourselves? We start hitting the gym, start dieting, make commitments to ourselves that start to fade away by the end of January. I’m all for ditch the resolutions, just be a better you.
Becoming a better you is easier than you think, and doesn’t require a resolution to get started. You just need to decide what is something about yourself, you would change or improve, to be a better you? Maybe you want to be more kind? Or more empathetic? Maybe be a better listener? Only you know what will make you a better YOU.
Several years ago I made a decision I would carry myself more gracefully. Particularly when came down to disagreements with others. I was becoming exhausted with the need to prove my point or having to explain my reasoning. I began to understand the theory “We can agree to disagree”, as well as ” Not everything needs a reaction.” Grace became a way of life for me, and I changed for the better because of it. It was something I wanted to do to become a better me. It actually brought more peace to my life. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yes, working out is important for your health. You will become a better you for it. But why wait until the New Year to start working out?
You can literally make the decision and start hiking tomorrow or just doing some form of physical exercise you enjoy doing. Just do it! No matter what you decide to do to become a better you, YOU will be happy you did it. You know the saying “Be the change you want to see.” You don’t need a New Year resolution to make that happen.
