Six days of detoxing are now behind me.

Six days of detoxing are now behind me. Today is day seven. One more week to go! So lets talk about how it’s been going… If you’re new to my story click here: http://reneholiday.com/detox-journey-14-days-the-preparation/ This will further explain my “Why” for doing this 14 Day Detox.

When I took my very first sip if the detox tea I knew immediately I had made the right choice. It was extremely bitter! There’s no other way to say it. It was bitter. The bright side is you only drink 8oz (twice a day) and that’s easy to do. I compared it to taking a bitter medicine. Those are always the ones that work best!  This detox is 100% natural herbs. No processing, nothing added.

I waited hours before leaving the house. Wasn’t sure how long it would be before I would have to head to the bathroom. I got through my day pretty normal. Did everything I would typically do. Took the herbal capsules in the afternoon as instructed. Had the second glass of detox in the late afternoon as instructed. I thought to myself “Maybe it’s not going to hit me like I thought it would.” Yeah- I was wrong.

Twelve hours after the first glass it hit me.

I was thankful I was home. My body released everything including my very soul. I slept like a baby that night. On day 2 I decided to put myself on a schedule. Drink the tea and take the capsules around the same time everyday. Try to regulate the trips to the bathroom. The herbs fill me up. I expected to be hungry all the time, but I haven’t been.

I wake up have the first glass of tea. Wait a couple of hours, then I have a cup of coffee. Again, I am full. Plenty of fruit is in the fridge for breakfast, but my stomach just doesn’t have the room for it. Midday I take the herbal capsules. Again I am full. I might juice for lunch or eat something very light. Late afternoon I have the second glass of detox. I’ll eat something light if I’m hungry. For dinner I’ll prepare something from the meal plan that came with the detox. My days are pretty simple. Oh- I removed all dairy, processed sugars, and processed foods while detoxing as well.

Overall I feel amazing!

My sinuses started draining late in the evening on day one. That let me know the detox was removing mucus from my body. They’ve continued to drain off and on throughout this duration. I’m early to bed, early to rise- naturally. I’ve always kept a healthy sleep pattern, but now my quality of sleep has improved. I see an improvement in my skin as well. Of course I have my cravings, and I miss Del Taco terribly. But I haven’t given in to them.

Although I didn’t decide to do the detox to lose weight, that was inevitable. My waist beads which started on my waistline, were now sitting close to my C-section scar by day three.  If you’ve never seen a C-section scar, they are pretty low on the torso. I don’t own a scale so I didn’t know exactly how much weight I had lost. I had a doctors appointment this week. Lost three pounds since my last visit. I am small yet muscular. Five pounds of weight loss is significant for me. I’m hoping I don’t drop too much more weight, but it is what it is…

Every time my body lets me know it needs to “relieve itself’, I can’t help but think of all the unhealthy stuff leaving my body. Like parasites and toxins. I also think about what my diet will consist of when I’m done detoxing?  Do I really want to do all of this cleansing only to compromise everything with  unhealthy food options?  Something to think about…
