Summer is officially upon us! What better time than now to create a new summer cocktail- “The Lavender Martini”.
This all came about last fall, when a client gave me various herbs and vegetables from her garden. In that mix were bundles of lavender. I had never cooked with lavender or made ANYTHING with lavender. I dried it, stored it, and tucked it away for a rainy day.
Fast forward to Summer 2015 and I remembered the bundles of lavender that I had stored last fall. I had no idea what to do with them and my mind began to race. Lavender cookies? Lavender chocolates? Then it hit me… Lavender Martini’s! I immediately began searching the internet for How To Make Lavender Martini’s. I found various recipes. I pulled a little of this and a little of that to make Rene’s take of the Lavender Martini.
The Lavender Martini
- 1 part Lavender Simple Syrup *recipe posted below
- 2 part Vodka
- 1 part Club Soda
Put all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and pour into chilled martini glasses. Garnish glass with a sprig of lavender. Simple, right? Now this is just a basic recipe. You can try various things, such as, flavored vodka. Maybe cherry or blueberry? Like your cocktails without fizz? Remove the club soda and add 1-2 Tbl of lemon. Get crazy with it!
I enjoyed the Lavender Martini so much, I was making them everyday for about a week while working on this particular blog piece. If you want to make a lasting impression at your next cocktail party, or just want to impress that “Special Someone”, you cannot go wrong with The Lavender Martini.
